Should I wait or pop for it now?

I want this game, and it seems to be going for about half price right now ($30). It seems like my old gaming rig should be able to handle it OK; my video card and RAM exceed the recommendations, but my CPU is a little slower (X4 965, but overclocked). I don’t play a lot of games these days (I’ve probably only tried 10% of the stuff I’ve purchased on Steam thanks to these bundling sites and ‘pay what you want’ deals), but I have good memories of playing GTA3 for hours on end, albeit perhaps not in the story mode but just driving around or doing taxi/police/fire duty. Any chance it will drop down closer to $20 for Christmas or do you think this is as good as it’s going to get price-wise?

It’s been out for 3 years now, might not drop. It’s worth it, go for it.

GTA V is one of those games that can get boring pretty quickly. I own both the Xbox 360 and PC versions, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen it for less than $30. Go for it.

As far as GTA Online is concerned, be aware that it can be a slog without friends to grind for cash with.

I find that with a lot of these types of games I don’t really follow the storyline but just drive around and experiment rather than completing the missions and trying to get to the end. I’ve wasted lots of time playing around with TDU2, but I can’t remember the last time I competed in any of the racing events or bought a house or clothes or fancy car or whatever materialistic thing they want you to do in order to ‘win’.

Based on this, will I enjoy screwing around in the scenery provided in this game? From what I’ve seen in some videos, a lot of it looks like areas in Los Angeles that I’m quite familiar with, so I’m wondering if I would enjoy goofing around, virtually, in my old home turf.

GTAV didn’t hold my interest after the storyline either. The world just didn’t have the same feel. It felt like a character in the older games rather than just a setting.

This game is pretty much TDU2 but with a smaller but much more detailed map. There’s a lot more to see and explore as well. Physics wise, its not perfect and the cars handle like they have an over sensitive TC system so sliding doesn’t really happen for long. Still, this game is great for just listening to the radio and driving around the map. I hate to admit it, but I’ve spent over 12 days of my life driving around in this game. You should get it.

Contrary to HondaBro, I have played GTA V all the way through 3 different times on three different consoles. I think it’s a great game, always with something to do. Though the character’s stories intertwine near the end, it’s nice that if you get tired of one story line, just switch to one of the other 2 characters and it’s a different story till like 75% through the game. It’s a great game all around, and definitely the best GTA. For $30, do it. Your specs should be good enough.

Did you play gta4 yet? I actually liked that one more than 5, and it’s probably dirt cheap now.

It’s worth it! I played the hell out of the Single Player missions, but couldn’t get into online (like literally get into online. I got it to run once, but then I had to finish missions online and I wasn’t able to because I had one measly gun and was killed 10x over and then I realized I was a grown ass man and should do manly things like wrestle bears or build shit and not spend so much time in front of the TV)

Playing through the story alone is worth it. Online can be fun. I hear the money is a grind but even just playing some of the missions can be fun.
